International Film Festival Rotterdam 2009

The 2009 International Film Festival Rotterdam will be screening a variety of films from Europe, Asia, the Middle-East and the Americas. I've selected about 30 films that lured my interest. Some of these are by renowned filmmakers like Abas Kiarostami and Takeshi Kitano, but also promising new filmmakers in the Tiger competition and retrospectives of filmmakers such as Jerzy Skolimowski and Peter Liechti.

Some films I look forward to seeing are: Matteo Garrone's Gomorra, (which won many prizes on numerous festivals so far) Danny Boyle's Bollywood pic Slumdog Millionaire, Kiyoshi Kurosawa's tribute to Ozu; Tokyo Sonata, Nuri Bilge Ceylan's Kasaba and the latest Kitano Takeshi. The first film I'll be viewing is Shirin, by Abbas Kiarostami.
